Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her marine biology studies at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her career in commercial seafood in 1999 when she began working aboard the F/V Sunset, a 65' halibut-schooner, which has become a salmon tender for Murat Aritan, who has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been is married to Aritan and they have come together to prove their rights to the industry. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith is a wholesale direct seafood company, was established in the year 2007 by Bella Bossard (age 3), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after the birth of her two children. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and more for her to be focused on her financial goals and environmental concerns. Bossard's children Isabella 12 years old and son Andre, age 10, visit each year for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the position of deckhand throughout the salmon wild season. Hooks and lines are employed to capture their salmon and then join Aritan for local processors for 2 months. They then continue to expand their direct seafood product sales through Otolith Sustainable Seafood. Amanda Bossard was hired as an anchor on News 12 / MMJ News 12 Anchor/MMJ and News 12 Brooklyn in November of 2015. She loves to highlight the positive things that happen in the boroughs that she covers and share stories that have an impact.
